(Spring 2011 entry)...

Hi everyone,

Well it's official our retail store in Haines Alaska has a name. We decided to  call it  "Second Nature". This name came about because our business deals with things from nature and that the store is located on Second Ave. I think it suits our business well. The store is a new part of Fun Guy Foraged Products LLC.

I am also very happy to report that we have started selling home brewing equipment and supplies at Second Nature.  We will be adding the brewing products to our website as well although not for a month or so.

(Winter 2010 entry)...
Until recently Fun Guy Foraged Products, etc. has been a remote locations plus website based business.  Remote sales meaning, farmers markets, holiday bazaars and a canopy type booth set up out side our ANB-ANS (Alaska Native Brotherhood-Alaska Native Sisterhood) Hall during Alaska's cruise ship season.  A year ago my wife and I purchased an existing home in the business section of our town of Haines, Alaska. This is one of the historic homes of Haines and will be a 100 years old in 2012. Welcome to FGFP's new retail store location, and one we figure will last for many years. This Dutch Colonial house/property is zoned commercial which makes it perfect for Fun Guy Foraged Products, etc. to expand it's business. Plus we get to live there!

      We moved in November 1st 2009 and jumped into some major remodeling to make it more livable and to create a retail store area for FGFP. As things usually go for us, the remodel has taken far more time and money then we were counting on. The kitchen is still only 60% completed still needing floor work, cabinets and finish woodwork done. The dining room is farther along although still needing some paneling/painting work completed.  The front room (the original living room) is FGFP's retail store area and I am happy to say the most complete room on the main floor of this beautiful house. Yes, you're right, the exterior needs to be repainted or re shingled. We are planning that project for the summer of 2011 also.  So, my wife, Julie, and I decided  that it was time to open the store to visitors and the local residents during  this 2010 Christmas season. FGFP is planning an official grand opening in the spring of 2011. Watch for the date to be posted for I guarantee it will be a good time for all who attend.

   We have a few new products we are offering these days. Products like a new wood-handled folding mushrooming knife, Lifeline survival kits, some books on edible seaweeds and more. If you don't see these items in our Product Catalog, they will be added very soon.  Look for our other new items, as well.

    Julie and I love our new/old home and believe it will work great for Fun Guy Foraged Products as well.  Come by and see us when you get a chance.  We are located at:
